These players with a rating of 10 in L’Equipe

This is the absolute Grail of the rating, the famous sesame: 10/10 in the newspaper Team after a match, as if to emphasize that a performance will go down in history. It is a very closed club and few players are allowed to enter. Raise the lucky ones.

(Croatia-Brazil, 1/4 finals of the WC-2022 1-1 (4-2 pen)

11 saves against Brazil in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup and the first shot on goal of the session saved against Rodrigo to allow Croatia to succeed and advance to the semi-finals of the competition. A real wall in Qatar.

Erling Haaland

(Manchester City – Manchester United, 9th day of the English Championship, 2022-2023 season, 6-3)

A hat-trick and two assists to thrash their Mancunian neighbors in one of Europe’s most prestigious derbies. Worth a 10/10, especially as it’s Erling Haaland’s third consecutive hat-trick in the Premier League this season.

Alban Lafont, Abdul-Kader Bamba, Kylian Mbappe

(Nantes-PSG, day 25 of Ligue 1, 2021-2022 season. 3-1)

That day he could not play. Nantes, leading 3-0 at half-time against PSG featuring Messi, Neymar, Mbappe and others, won 3-1 in the final.

Alban Lafont had a lot to do with eight saves, including a penalty against Neymar that reduced the lead early in the game before the Canaries goalkeeper could do much about it.

Kylian Mbappe

(France-Kazakhstan, 9th day of the qualifying round of the WC-2022, 8:0)

It’s not every day in the selection that you get 4 points, even if it’s Kazakhstan’s opponent. Kylian Mbappe did it and history will remember it. It deserves full marks.

Serge Gnabry

(Tottenham-Bayern, Matchday 2 of the 2019-2020 Champions League group stage, 2-7)

A top four finish in the Champions League since Cristiano Ronaldo in December 2015 isn’t bad for a striker who has never featured in the competition before. All to humiliate Tottenham 7-2 on home soil that many will remember.

Lucas Moura

(Ajax-Tottenham, 2018-2019 Champions League semi-final second leg, 2-3)

This famous hat-trick ended Ajax Amsterdam’s saga in the Champions League 2018-2019 season. Heartbreaking for those who love the beautiful Ajacid game, but a performance that tablets can’t erase with a last minute goal that will go down as one of the most dramatic games in football.

(Real-Ajax, 1/8 second leg of the 2018-2019 Champions League, 4-1)

Ahead of the match, it was the Ajax player who impressed with a superb performance to knock out three-time champions Real Madrid at home in the Champions League.

A double crucial passer, stylish goalscorer, Dusan Tadic made life hell above all by humiliating opposing midfielders and defenders with technical gestures.

(PSG-Dijon, 21st day of Ligue 1, 2018, 8:0)

Four goals and two assists. Hard to do better than an 8-0 win against Dijon. The only negative was Edinson Cavani, who could be the top scorer in PSG history, the famous penalty goal story, where the Brazilian did not leave the penalty kick at the end of the match.

(Guingamp-Nice, Day 11 of L1, 2014, 2-7)

He remains the only player to score five goals in Ligue 1 in the 21st century to date, and as such he deserves maximum points in everyday French sport.

Robert Lewandowski

(Borussia Dortmund – Real Madrid, C1 semi-final 2013, 4-1)

No, Robert Lewandowski didn’t get 10/10 for his nine-minute five against Wolfsburg in 2015, but two years ago he became the ninth player in Champions League history to score four goals. Real Madrid couldn’t do anything in this semi-final of C1 against an unstoppable Dortmund team who will face Lewy’s future club Bayern in the final.

(Barcelona-Leverkusen, 1/8 finals of C1 2012 (7-1) and Barcelona-Arsenal, 1/4 finals of C1 2010 (4-1))

If fours are rare in the Champions League, you can imagine fives are more common. But Lionel Messi did it. In 2012, he faced Leverkusen in the 1/8 finals of C1.

A decent 10/10, but certainly not the only one in the Argentinian’s great career since he scored all of Barcelona’s goals against Arsenal in the quarter-finals two years ago and has already taken maximum points. By decision, this person does not do everything like others.

(Nantes-Aarhus, 1997 C3 1/32, 0-1)

The name probably doesn’t mean anything to you, and that’s okay, unless you’re a dedicated Nantes supporter. In the UEFA Cup round of 32, goalkeeper Windfeld disgusted the Canaries to allow Denmark’s Aarhus to progress to the next round. A real tour de force.

Oleg Salenko

(Russia-Cameroon, 1994 World Cup, 6-1)

Five goals against Roger Milla’s Cameroon in a World Cup match, that’s worth a 10/10, right? Russian Oleng Salenko did it in 1994. Of course, at that time, Russia and Cameroon were excluded from their pool, but we say respecting the opponent is how it should be.

Franck Sauzee and Stefan Schwarz

(France-Greece, Euro hopefuls final 1988, 3-0)

In this year’s Euro 1988 final, the two rockets hope to help their team win over Greece. The nickname Kaiser Sauzée was well deserved.

Second 10/10 in the same game. Goalkeeper Bruno Martini also did an untouchable job on his line in this final of Euro hopes.
