Samsung wins Sustainable Product Award for innovation towards a sustainable future with ocean-recycled plastic incorporated into Samsung Galaxy Technology
Samsung Electronics announced the winner of the award SEAL Business Sustainability Award 2022 to turn discarded fishing nets into high-performance recycled material used in Galaxy devices.
Judged annually by a panel of sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) experts, the SEAL Awards recognize the most impactful sustainability initiatives and the best companies driving environmental progress. Samsung is proud to buy SEAL Business Sustainability Award 2022it rewards inspiring companies with products designed specifically to move the world forward for the better.

Discarded fishing nets are one of the most common and invasive plastics[1] posing a serious threat to marine life and our planet. Samsung has introduced disposable fishing nets for the first time Galaxy S22 range and has since used the material in designs for its Galaxy ecosystem, including tablets, laptops and headsets. In collaboration with like-minded organizations, Samsung created a new material from recycled ocean-bound plastic and met its high quality standards.
This innovation is part of the Samsung MX sustainability vision, Galaxy for Planet, which describes the company’s journey to take tangible climate action across its global business operations and product lifecycles.
