Samsung introduces a new foldable mobile phone with a sophisticated design

In addition, the screen uses a different hinge design that will result in less obvious folding. This is because the “teardrop hinge” allows the screen to take on a looser teardrop shape when folded inwards. This thinner hinge will also put less strain on the screen.
Samsung had a similar prototype
It is not the first time that the company has introduced the “Flex In & Out” prototype, which adopts a foldable and versatile design. At the 2021 International Conference on Information Display (IMID) in Korea, there was information about the “Flex In & Out” display. However, the approach is different, the screen is folded like an “S” and divided into several parts. As for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which was released to the public in August 2022, it still uses an inward-folding display.
However, it is possible that the new display could be seen on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. The device is rumored to have a less open fold thanks to a similar hinge design. This design solves what some users believe is a faulty U-shaped hinge on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Competitors have teardrop hinges, creating designs with smaller folds.
