TURKEY, Finland, January 12, 2023–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cadmatic is among the industrial companies and academic institutions to lead the European Union-funded Smart European Shipbuilding (SEUS) project, launched on January 1, 2023. SEUS is an Innovation Activity with a major focus. the use of IT tools in shipbuilding. The consortium will develop a framework for using data in shipbuilding through the development of a new integrated platform that will include state-of-the-art detailed ship design solutions, data management and collaboration.

The platform is a solution aimed at reducing engineering time by 30% and assembly time by 20%, an ambitious goal. It will be designed using advanced European shipbuilding expertise contributed by the consortium’s industrial and academic participants and will be evaluated by two major European shipyards.
This platform will develop new practices for human-centered knowledge management, AI data-driven design elements, smart technology, and the Industry 5.0 concept for shipbuilding. It will also support the growth of a highly skilled European workforce for the deployment and use of advanced IT tools in shipbuilding, in particular the integration of new technologies.
SEUS is part of the Horizon Europe project, the research and innovation framework program of the European Union with a budget of 95.5 billion euros. SEUS is funded to the tune of approximately €7 million. Cadmatic will earn 1.6 million euros from this amount. Cadmatic is responsible for leading the technical coordination during the four years that the SEUS project is expected to run.
The SEUS consortium consists of eight organizations from five different countries. Its members include highly innovative partners such as shipbuilding solutions provider Cadmatic (Finland), GCP data management solutions developer Contact Software (Germany), SARC BV (Netherlands), Ulstein Group (Norway) and two shipyards with distinction Astilleros Gondan SA (Spain) . , as well as excellent research institutes: Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), University of Turku (Finland) and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands).
