The NGO is completing the construction of a donated children’s hospital

Construction work on a new children’s hospital in Bucharest completed entirely thanks to private donations and sponsorships was completed today, local NGO Dăruieste Viață said.

Funding is still needed as the team now moves on to the next phase: installing the furniture, testing the facilities and preparing for the admissions process, which will begin in the first part of next year. And then the NGO has bigger projects.

“Completion of the construction works of the Hospital, which was built with the help of our donors and sponsors, is proof that we can achieve our dreams. […] We are entering a new phase of the project, both technically and with the hospital staff and authorities, because we want the new hospital to be more than just a building. It should be the heartbeat of change in the Romanian healthcare system,” said Carmen Uscatu, co-founder of Dăruieşte Viață.

The #NoiFacemUnSpital (WeBuildAHopital) initiative was born from the desire to renovate and bring up to date the pediatric oncology department of the Marie S. Curie Hospital in Bucharest, but it has become a truly national project – the first children’s hospital built exclusively for it. through donations and sponsorships.

Currently, #NoiFacemUnSpital is a development project created around a 12,000 square meters and 9-level building built from scratch, a 2,400 m² thermal power plant that will serve the entire Marie Curie hospital, facilities that meet modern standards for hospitals. patient and family.

The initiative brings many firsts in the public system in Romania: the first pediatric radiotherapy department, a fully glazed operating room, technology (scanner, BMS system, air purification unit, state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment) and “human spaces” (beds for relatives, indoor garden, playgrounds , radio studio, astronomical observatory, recreation areas, etc.).

In the following years, Dăruiește Viață, in collaboration with donors and supporters, aims to create at the Marie Curie Hospital “the first medical campus in the country and a reference center for the multidisciplinary treatment of children with serious diseases in South-Eastern Europe”. Bucharest. The project includes a second new building as well as renovation and modernization of the current building.

“In addition, the Association is working on a pilot project for a pediatric radiotherapy service (the first in a public hospital) and will propose this project to the authorities to determine the best solutions for providing medical services in the community according to Western standards. hospitals, placing the patient at the center and ensuring the performance and respect of medical staff. The project is based on a corporate management model and a medical management model,” said Dăruieşte Viață.

“The idea of ​​the hospital was born in 2015 and today, thanks to the hearts beating in sync with the rhythm of change, we reach an important moment: the completion of the construction works. Don’t stop there. #NoiFacemUnSpital hopes to bring a radical change to the medical system in Romania,” said Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of Dăruieşte Viață .

Dăruiește Viață has been investing more than 43 million euros in the Romanian medical system for more than 10 years, building and renovating departments and hospitals, using only donations and sponsorships.

Businesses and individuals can support their ongoing work. Companies wishing to do so will be able to direct 20% of their profit/income tax to the NGO, but donations can be made online at Daruiesteviata.ro or by texting SPITAL to 8864 (EUR 4 per monthly donation). This year is also the first year that sponsorship can be made for the previous year (2021) under Proclamation No. 177.
