ᑕ❶ᑐ Gareth Southgate to remain England coach after Euro 2024
The Football Association has confirmed that Gareth Southgate will remain as the head coach of the English national team until the 2024 European Championship.
He said “in conflict” On his future role after England’s World Cup quarter-final run.
Appointed in 2016, the 52-year-old specialist led the “Three Lions” to the semifinals of the World Cup in 2018 and to the first Euro final in 2021.
His current contract expires in December 2024.

Southgate officially became England manager in November 2016 after two months as interim manager following the departure of Sam Allardyce.
The former defender, who played 57 games for the England national team, became the fourth permanent head coach of the national team in as many years.
In the six years since, he has brought great stability to the England side, created a tight-knit unit of players off the pitch and a side that looked like serious contenders for major trophies.
Southgate has won 49 of the 81 games he has managed so far and lost 14. But his record of six knockout games in major tournaments as Three Lions boss is equaled by England, which he achieved in 48 years before taking over.
But despite rising expectations from his squad, Southgate has yet to deliver the long-awaited silverware.
His team went 1-0 to Croatia in the last four of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and lost 2-1, while England lost on penalties to Italy after leading in the Euro 2020 final as well.
England entered the World Cup having been knocked out of their UEFA Nations League group after three defeats and three draws.
However, wins over Iran and Wales, either side of a draw with the USA, saw England top their group and then comfortably beat Senegal in the round of 16.
Their trip ended in a 2-1 defeat to France, with captain Harry Kane missing a late penalty and scoring a goal to join Wayne Rooney as England’s top scorer.
Southgate previously managed the England Under-21 team from 2013-2016 and also managed Middlesbrough from 2006-2009.
Under the leadership of Southgate, the English team scored 174 goals and conceded 57. The Three Lions have scored three or more goals 27 times – in a third of the games he has taken charge of.
He is fourth in most appearances as an England men’s manager, ahead of Walter Winterbottom with 139, Sir Alf Ramsey with 113 and Sir Bobby Robson with 95.

Southgate stays – reaction
Former England goalkeeper David Seaman said he was “really happy” that Southgate had decided to stay.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I’d be really disappointed if it wasn’t for what he’s built and the situation in England.”

Former England defender Gary Neville said it was the “right decision”.
